An original event poster for the 1980 Monaco GP. The artwork design by Jacques Grognet features the 1982 Ferrari 312T5 of Jody Scheckter. The race was won by Carlos Reutemann driving a Williams FW07B but was best remembered for a memorable and spectacular crash at the start of the race when Derek Daly collided with Bruno Giacomelli’s Alfa Romeo 179. The accident sent Daly’s Tyrrell 010 flying over Giacomelli and landing between teammate Jean-Pierre Jarier and Alain Prost’s McLaren M29. All four drivers were out on the spot, but none suffered any serious injury. The poster has printed on the reverse ‘Exemplaire non destiné a la vente” which means the poster is an ‘Example not intended for sale’. These posters were usually made in limited editions of 2,000 pieces and given to commercial outlets to advertise the GP, a lot were disposed of after the race so they are difficult to find. The poster itself does have minor creasing throughout, some brown spots and tape to the reverse but is in overall very good condition with no rips or tears. Dimensions measure 60cm x 40cm.
